REELEX II Side-Load Box Design

REELEX Packaging Solutions continuously updates and improves the REELEX packaging system to meet the demands of the market and the demands of licensees. The new side-load REELEX II box design is the latest in a series of improvements to the REELEX package aimed towards lowering packaging costs, improving packaging output, improving the end-user experience, increasing environmental responsibility, and offering more choices to licensees.

This new box design is a one-piece box cutout which, unlike typical boxes, does not require a gluing or folding process at the corrugated supplier. This means the box manufacturer can produce boxes faster and use fewer processes, reducing per-box cost by up to 6%.

However, lower costs were not the original intent of this box design. Stemming from complaints regarding the complexity of hand-packed REELEX II boxes, this new box design increases operator output by making it far easier for the REELEX machine operator to load and assemble packages. This new box design mimics REELEX "I" packaging methods by accommodating the "side-load" method. By loading the coil into the side of the box, the inside of the coil is fully accessible, allowing the operator to easily thread the payout tube, adjust layers of the coil and reduce the chance of operator error.

Furthermore, the new side-load box is assembled much more quickly than existing box designs, as only one slot-tab exists on the entire box. This allows the operator to fold boxes much faster than was previously possible, decreasing operator fatigue and increasing output significantly.

This box design is currently available on a developmental basis. For samples or to discuss this new design further, please contact us.

Lower Box Costs.

Because this new box design does not require a folding/gluing process at the box supplier, per-box cost is reduced by up to 6% per box.

This means greater margins per product, and the adoption of the REELEX II package across more product lines.

Increase Output.

This box design assembles far easier than typical REELEX boxes and allows the coil to be loaded with minimal effort. Packaging time per coil is reduced by up to 15 seconds per coil, allowing the machine speed to be increased, or providing the operator more time to perform other functions such as labeling or palletizing.

Maximize Quality.

Instead of inserting the payout tube into the coil, this new box design allows the operator to slide the coil up to the payout tube. This method ensures the layers of the coil are where they need to be to prevent tangling. The side-load method also allows the operator to have access to the inside of the coil, decreasing the chance for packaging error.
