Single Frame Design

Everything you need.

The MMPO is designed to be an all-in-one material handling solution that works with REELEX equipment. Originally designed for use with the RS1, the MMPO can be used with any takeup.

Because all components are mounted on a single frame, the MMPO offers all components required for either spooling or REELEX coiling in a small footprint and at a low cost. Each component can be upgraded or modified in the field for optimum performance according to product or use.

Two-Stage Tension Control

Handle gently.

When used in combination with the G2 or G3 control system, REELEX’s UDA dancers feature HMI-programmable tension control via digital air regulator and high-flow cylinder. This means each product can have their ideal tension control map, helping to mitigate the effects of physical pressure placed on the cable at the crossover point. What does that mean? That means high performance data cables stay high performance, with less physical deformities.

Updated Components

Working together.

The UDA utilizes the latest in tension control components, including a laser potentiometer for zero-tune positioning, a digital air regulator. that is controlled via REELEX HMI and a self-lubricating cylinder which improves reliability and disassociates the lubrication function from the air supply. The components work together with the proven high-performance sheaves to offer exceptional response with delicate product handling.

Performance

REELEX motorized payoffs feature air-powered reel lifting along with interchangeable pintles and reel drive dogs to accommodate various sized reels. The motorized payoff also includes its own control panel with operator push buttons to control reel loading functions.

REELEX motorized payoffs receive information relayed from the dancer to adjust braking or acceleration inputs thereby speeding or slowing the product being fed into the coiling machine. Dancer position feedback is administered via laser.

The MMPO is powered by a 3 horsepower motor with a maximum speed of 500 RPMs. This translates to an approximate maximum speed of 1,000 feet per minute based on an 8-inch barrel during respooling or coil winding.

Capable of accommodating supply reels up to 30 inches (76cm) and 300 lbs (136kg) at speeds up to 1,000 feet per minute (300m/min), the MMPO is ideally suited for small-scale production, package rewinding, lightweight or specialty products, secondary operations and distributors.

For larger reels or faster speed requirements, please see our larger heavy-duty Motorized Payoff design.

FAQ and Knowledge Base

Yes, however you will likely be unable to achieve maximum performance from your REELEX machine. This is because underpowered payoffs spend more time accelerating or decelerating then running at full speed.  To achieve the specified rate of production from your REELEX machine, you must utilize a payoff that is capable of rapidly accelerating and decelerating a supply reel and keep it under control.

If you plan to use a non-REELEX payoff with REELEX coiling machines, the payoff must:

  • Have a four-quandrant regenerative DC drive.
  • Accept inputs from a 1K to 5K Ohm potentiometer signal from the UDA dancer.
  • Be designed for rapid acceleration and deceleration from stop to full speed approximately 30 times per hour.
  • Have adequate power to accelerate a full supply reel from stop to full speed in approximately 10 seconds.

There is a one time License Fee of $7,500 associated with the signing of the License Agreement. This transaction indicates the acquisition of the license to produce REELEX packages.

You will also need a REELEX machine to produce REELEX coils. If you are an OEM and are purchasing or having a REELEX Licensee manufacture cable for you, you will need to obtain the REELEX trademark from the manufacturer and put it on your packaging. Alternatively, you can sign a REELEX trademark agreement.

Simply put – because REELEX could not survive on machine sales alone. Our annual machine sales are not very many, and thus with 40+ employees the cost of running the business would force machine prices to be extraordinarily high. This would make the barrier to adopt REELEX much too expensive and nobody would buy machines.

Thus, if REELEX tried to survive from machine and part sales alone we would be out of business. Instead, REELEX sells machines “at cost”. This means that when REELEX sells a machine it includes material, labor, development costs and overhead, but no profit.

The Royalty fees are collected from ALL REELEX licensees. Everyone with a D-750 pays the same fee regardless of how long they have been a customer, or how many machines they have. The small companies can compete equally with large companies with no favoritism. These royalties keep REELEX in business so we can continue to provide parts, service, know-how and decades worth of R&D to our customers. Without the royalty fee REELEX would be out of business very soon, and so would service and parts to support over 300 active REELEX machines, over 100 major cable producing facilities and thousands upon thousands of distributors around the globe.

Fundamental to REELEX licensing is the concept of “know-how”. The REELEX coil and the methodology is trade secret, and has never been patented. This technology and surrounding intellectual knowledge including software programming, proprietary circuitry, formulas, calculations, algorithms, equipment designs and over 40 years of packaging expertise are all included under the “know-how” moniker.

License agreements signed in 2013 or later include global coverage. Previous to 2013, individual agreements were signed per country. For companies with multiple locations, we strongly recommend contacting us to sign the updated agreement, which greatly simplifies and modernizes the REELEX license contract. Contact us for more information.

No. You sign only one License Agreement. This agreement gives you full access to REELEX patents, trademarks, and know-how, including package designs, consultation, software, 40 years of packaging expertise and much more.

All License Agreements contain a “Most Favored Licensee” clause. This guarantees you that you are paying the same prices for machines and fees as all other companies in your country. All companies, big and small, pay exactly the same amount for machinery, parts and fees. There are no discounts or special deals available to you or your competitors.

The REELEX trademark guarantees to the end-user that the coil was wound on a genuine REELEX machine. This logo ensures that they are getting a genuine tangle-free package from a genuine and honest company as opposed to a knock-off. The trademark also allows us to take legal action against counterfeit cable manufacturers or manufacturers who attempt to counterfeit REELEX packages and claim them as genuine.

By printing the REELEX mark on all REELEX packaging, manufacturers can defend their investment in the REELEX system and protect against counterfeiting, while proving honesty and integrity to their customers.

The REELEX trademark on the package serves to:

  • Indicate to end-users that they are using a genuine REELEX package that will perform as intended.
  • Identify a product manufactured by a company abiding by internationally-accepted intellectual property laws.
  • Distinguish genuine REELEX packages from counterfeit packages.
  • Assist in combating counterfeiting through legal means.
  • Identify a legal user of REELEX technology.
  • Identify the use of proprietary and patented technology.

If you are currently having cable manufactured and packaged by a REELEX Licensee and your packages are not printed or labeled with the REELEX trademark logo, it is the responsibility of the manufacturer to supply you with the logo. Per the license agreement, all packages made using REELEX technology should have the logo affixed somewhere on the package.

For OEMs who are using genuine REELEX technology via using a supplier licensee, REELEX offers a trademark license agreement. This agreement allows well-known OEMs to become genuine REELEX trademark licensees in exchange for committing to using only genuine REELEX licensees as suppliers. Besides ensuring that the packaging is genuine REELEX and is not under threat of patent infringement, this agreement allows REELEX to confirm that an OEM is lawfully using REELEX patents while helping promote the OEM’s brand.

In order to be fair to all parties, adding OEM to the licensee list would require OEM itself to become a licensee. By having signed a separate “OEM” license agreement with REELEX, the OEM would legally be identified as a licensee of REELEX’s trademarks (the OEM is already using REELEX technology via suppliers).

Alternatively, REELEX does offer an OEM license agreement for private-labeled cable brands. More information about the OEM license agreement can be found by clicking below:

OEM Trademark License Information

Like many licensing arrangements, the customer, or “Licensee”, pays REELEX system usage fees, or “royalties”, that are based upon the production capability of the REELEX coiling machines that they own or rent.

These royalties are typically paid annually for those that own up to two REELEX machines, and monthly for those that rent equipment. For large manufacturers operating three or more coiling machines, the annual fees are based upon a customer’s annual sales volume of REELEX packages. More information on the Royalty schedule structure can be found here.

The Royalty fees are collected from ALL REELEX licensees. Everyone with a D-750 pays the same fee regardless of how long they have been a customer, or how many machines they have. The small companies can compete equally with large companies with no favoritism. If your package looks like this:

You are using a REELEX® Package.

That means you are using patents, trademarks and know-how developed by REELEX Packaging Solutions over the past 40 years. As inventor and licensor of the REELEX packaging system, using counterfeit or knockoff REELEX packaging puts your company at risk of patent or trademark infringement or other litigation.

Because the REELEX system is a patented technology, the authorized use of these patents, associated trademarks and know-how is administered through the signing of a License Agreement and the paying of usage fees or “Royalties”.

This contract gives the Licensee full access to REELEX’s portfolio of patents and all trademarks associated with the REELEX system, while also entitling the Licensee to unique advantages and benefits guaranteed to them as long as the REELEX system is being utilized.

Absolutely! ProFlex packaging is not restricted to just REELEX coils.

Non-REELEX licensees must sign a separate license agreement to use ProFlex packaging. Royalty fees are indicated below. A US$3,500.00 one-time license fee is paid upon signing the license agreement.

ProFlex is part of the REELEX umbrella of patents, thus a current REELEX license agreement gives full rights to the use of ProFlex packaging.

No additional fees are payable to REELEX beyond those currently paid for the use of the REELEX system of patents.

ProFlex is a patented technology whose use is administered through a current and signed license agreement.

All products packaged by ProFlex, whether REELEX coils or not, use unique technology licensed by REELEX Packaging Solutions, Inc.

Try increasing the pull cable value.  Screen 12 on the computer inside the controller.  The only thing with this is it uses the same number for left and right so they will both speed up but this may be a good short term fix before you do a full tune of the drive. I would try increasing in increments of 50.  What is the setting now ?
